I bought this same carrier in a medium when my dog was 8 lbs. Now he's around 12 lb. so I needed a bigger carrier. American Airlines is the only airline that I know of that would allow for the Sherpa Large carrier which is a nice comfortable size for my dog. American will be getting a lot of repeat business from us from now on because of that. BTW, if your pet is close to the recommended max weight, take your pet to the vet, put it in the carrier to see how much it weights with the carrier just to make sure the weight isn't over the max. My dog was cutting it close so we had to put him on a diet to loose a couple of pounds. You don't want to find out when you get to the airport it's over the max weight.

bought this to transport 8 week old puppies, it appears that it will do what I intended, plenty of zippers to get at the little one , sits squarely on the seat with seatbelt securing it, but was a bit too expensive, could be 1/2 the price I thought...but needed something quickly.
