Naturally, nature occasionally throws us some unfortunate cleaning duties. If your pet does its duty when you least expect it, regardless of having taken care of that just minutes ago when it was more convenient, it is awfully handy to have some spare, throwaway towels that can be used to line the inside of the pet carrier.
Be prepared
You're a pet owner, so you obviously have these things on hand, but don't forget them when it is time to board an airplane, bus, or car. Dealing with a crying baby through mass transit is bad enough. You don't want to hide your eyes when everyone on board knows that smell is coming from the barking bag under your seat. Things to keep on hand:
- Plastic baggies
- Carpet cleaner with brush
- Extra rags to line bottom of carrier
- Sponges
- Rubber gloves (can't be too careful)
- Air freshener of your choice

Pet make
The logistics of how to dispose of the evidence is up to you to figure out. We recommend using bathroom trash cans or toilets whenever possible, as a means to maximize the distance between the populace and the offending substance. However, if things get desperate, any old trash can will do.
Keep in mind, this is all par for the course. If you travel with a pet, you will, someday, have to deal with this minor disruption. Consider seriously if you can handle it. If not, go with a nice perennial instead.
