A large part of picking out a pet carrier has to do with how big the dog is. But another large part of choosing your large pet carrier is deciding how much you can lift. Those dogs on the fence between carrying dogs and carting dogs may surprise you. Take a good long look at that beagle or schnauzer and ask yourself, "How long do I really want to carry that guy?" Room for Fido With this in mind, we only ask you that your pet be allowed a few inches on all sides to allow adjustment and a comfortable sleep. The bottom should always be firm enough to support the weight of your pet, especially if you are to be carrying it by hand. You may be surprised that only a few inches on each side are required for a comfortable travel dog carrier. This is on the condition that the animal is obedient and will be let out to stretch its legs soon enough. If you think that your pet will respond better to more room, by all means, give it a shot.
